Tower Bridge, speech bubbles, and two brilliant Year 9s – our new logo celebrates London’s languages

The London: City of Languages team is thrilled to reveal the winners of our Logo Competition, which drew nearly 400 entries from primary and secondary schools across the capital.

After careful judging, two designs stood out as meeting all of the criteria we set. Dhanya from Plashet School and Elizabeth from Bishop Thomas Grant School are our joint winners. Both logos feature London’s iconic Tower Bridge, symbolising how languages connect people and open new horizons. Speech bubbles and flowing script highlight communication and creativity, while the designs remain clear, distinctive, and timeless.

Entries were judged anonymously, so it was a delightful surprise to discover that both winners are Year 9 pupils, living on opposite sides of the river. Their schools even scheduled assemblies for the announcement at the same time on the same day.

We extend heartfelt thanks to every pupil and teacher who contributed. While the winning logos will now be combined to form our official campaign identity, we be drawing on all logos submitted to showcase finalists, shortlisted, and commended designs.   To see the winning designs and the album containing over 300 submissions, please read the full news article here
